IINTRODUCTION

Our model of spiritual formation provides a blueprint of what God wants to change, grow, and mature within each of us. All of us lead with a model in mind, but are we leading with a model that will shape us into the person God has destined us to be?

5 DISTINCT QUESTIONS TO THE HUMAN EXPERIENCE
One of the things that separates mankind from the rest of creation is the ability to question. Here are five questions that are distinct to the human experience:

  • The COMPETENCY question :: What am I good at?

  • The COMMUNITY question :: Where do I belong?

  • The CALLING question :: What is my purpose in life?

  • The CHARACTER question :: What am I made of?

  • The CORE question :: Who am I?

CULTURAL RESPONSE
Western Culture sets an order to these questions by asking three questions that revolve around these dominant values:

  • What will make me HAPPY?

  • What will make me COMFORTABLE and/or INDEPENDENT?

  • What will make me SECURE?

A CHRIST CENTERED RESPONSE
As a faith community, we seek to ask a different set of questions as we attempt to sort out what God would do in us and through us:

  • Who is JESUS?

You are the Christ, the Son of the living God. - Matthew 16:16

  • How can I EXPERIENCE Jesus?

...seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you. - Matthew 6:33

  • How am I to EXPRESS Jesus?

...you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. - Acts 1:8
