INTRODUCTION
The things in our life can help us live God’s best or they can serve to distract us from God’s best. In this episode we explore some warning signs that our stuff has the wrong priority in our life. We then explore ways to realign our relationship with things so that we can press into the life that God has for us.

BIBLICAL WARNINGS ABOUT THE STUFF OF OUR LIFE

  • Luke 12:15 (NIV): “Watch out! Be on your guard against all kinds of greed; life does not consist in an abundance of possessions.”

  • Proverbs 11:28 (NIV), “Those who trust in their riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.”

  • Psalm 62:10 (NIV), “Though your riches increase, do not set your heart on them.”

  • Proverbs 23:4-5 (NIV), “Do not wear yourself out to get rich; do not trust your own cleverness. Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.”

  • Ecclesiastes 5:10 (NIV), “Whoever loves money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income.”

WARNING SIGNS

  • Your stuff is STAGED to communicate STATUS to impress people not SERVE people

  • You neglect the PEOPLE in your life to maintain the THINGS in your life

  • You focus on INVESTMENT GROWTH more than SPIRITUAL GROWTH

  • Your purchases reflect a life of COMFORT and CONVENIENCE more than HOSPITALITY and GENEROSITY.

Four signs the things in your life are serving the kingdom

  • EQUIP: I can tell you how the things in my life are helping me physically, mentally, spiritually, and relationally grow.

  • WORSHIP: I can tell you how the things in my life inspire me to worship God and prioritize his will in my life

  • SERVE: I can tell you how the things in my life are improving the lives of others.
